WHEREAS:
The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution clearly states "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed;" and
WHEREAS:
Article I, Section 21 to the Pennsylvania Constitution clearly states "the right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned;" and
WHEREAS:
"Assault Weapons" bans like HB 336 outlaw the ownership of firearms based solely on cosmetic features, effectively banning rifles, shotguns, and handguns commonly used for hunting, self-defense, and sport shooting; and
WHEREAS:
These laws are a clear infringement of the U.S. and Pennsylvania Constitutions and do not make Pennsylvanians safer, but rather needlessly turn countless law-abiding citizens into criminals for simply owning a firearm with features arbitrarily deemed "scary."
THEREFORE:
I respectfully urge you to OPPOSE HB 336, the so-called "Assault Weapons" ban in Pennsylvania. The National Association for Gun Rights will keep me informed of your actions.
